Supporting safe flight with weather information to utilize urban space
and to revitalize local communities
JMC has conducted research on weather and atmospheric environment over urban areas.
We have worked on applying these technologies to the development of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in urban areas such as Osaka including Expo 2025, as well as other cities in Japan.
Our goal is to realize a service that provides highly accurate weather information, which is necessary for the introduction of next-generation smart mobilities.
At Expo 2025, we are providing wind speed and direction information over the Expo site to support the operation of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) of the “Smart Mobility Expo,” the Future Society Showcase Project.
We also are providing more accurate weather information that is useful for safety management of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).
Doppler Riders, which is meteorological equipment, are installed near the Expo site and on Maishima Island to observe wind conditions over the Expo site and along the flight routes of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) during the Expo.
We are visualizing real-time wind direction and speed on our website to provide a more accurate weather information system that is useful for safety management of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).
Supporting the operation of Expo 2025 to protect visitors from lightning, heat stroke, typhoons, and other weather disasters.
JMC aims to realize a society where people can live with peace of mind in the face of weather-related disasters, which are becoming more severe every year.
With a commitment to disaster mitigation and disaster prevention, our weather forecasters and disaster prevention professionals are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide support.
At the Expo 2025, we are providing full support from our forecast center of the headquarters in Osaka to ensure that visitors can enjoy their time there.
Moreover, we are providing weather information, including precipitation forecasts, to Expo 2025 Personal Agent (sponsored by NTT Group), the official Expo application that assists visitors’ activities.
Our weather forecasting technology is supporting visitors' experience at the venue in the app.
Our forecast center is located in Osaka City, where our meteorologists can see the sky near the venue through the windows of our headquarters. To support the smooth operation of Expo 2025, we are monitoring the risk of impact from lightning strikes, heat, and other factors at the venue and notifying us when an impact is anticipated. We also are providing our web-based system so that Expo management personnel can check weather information at any time.
We are installing weather observation equipment at the Expo site to provide more accurate information. Heat stroke is a concern at Expo during summer, and we are using observation data to predict the risk of heat stroke.
Ground Weather Observation:
WBGT value (heat stroke risk), rainfall, wind direction, wind speed, temperature, humidity
Weather information to enrich your experience and excitement at Expo 2025. We are informing visitors of the possibility of rainbows and sunsets
JMC combines weather information with our original ideas to develop unique content business and highly accurate forecast information.
The west side of the Expo site faces the ocean, where beautiful sunsets can be expected, but it is often difficult to notice sunsets and rainbows when indoors.
We hope to enrich the experience of visitors to Expo 2025 by providing our information on rainbows and sunsets on the signage displays.
At Expo 2025, JMC is providing visitors with the possibility of seeing rainbows and sunsets on seventeen signage displays in the vicinity of the Expo site. Rainbow and sunset information is created by JMC.
